Social Service Projects

The Anglican Catholic Church in Tanzania is committed to serving and uplifting those in need through a range of social service initiatives. These programs provide critical support in foster care, healthcare, education, relief assistance, counseling, and transitional aid, ensuring that individuals and families receive the care and guidance necessary to overcome life’s challenges. Our mission is rooted in the belief that compassion and service are fundamental expressions of faith, driving us to reach those who are most vulnerable.

Through these initiatives, we strive to restore dignity, stability, and hope in communities by addressing both immediate needs and long-term solutions. Whether it’s providing education to empower future generations, offering relief in times of crisis, or guiding individuals through life’s transitions, our goal is to be a source of strength and support. By working together with individuals, organizations, and local communities, our Social Services Program serves as a bridge toward a more just and compassionate society where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

St. Luke General Hospital - Ngh’umbi

St. Luke Maternity & General Hospital Project

The St. Luke General Hospital - Ngh’umbi project seeks to address a critical gap in maternal and general healthcare for the communities of Ngh’umbi and its surrounding villages, including Iyumbu, Mbagilwa, Pembamoto (Kongwa District), and Kisito (Gairo District). These areas currently lack adequate and reliable primary healthcare services, forcing residents—especially pregnant women, infants, the elderly, and individuals with disabilities—to travel long distances to access medical care.

Vision & Objectives

The hospital will begin with a modern maternity unit, designed to provide state-of-the-art medical care, safe delivery services, and postnatal support. Over time, it will expand into a full-service general hospital, improving healthcare access for thousands across the region.

The core beliefs of this project include:

  • Safe Motherhood & Infant Care: Ensuring every pregnancy and delivery is treated as a sacred and delicate moment, deserving of the highest quality care

  • Family-Centered Support: private maternity spaces for mother-baby bonding, breastfeeding, and family engagement.

  • Sustainable & Holistic Healing: Incorporating natural elements—mountain views, valleys, and water streams—into the hospital’s design to create a serene and stress-free environment for patients and families.

  • The region’s severe lack of maternal healthcare facilities has resulted in life-threatening conditions for expectant mothers and newborns. This project is a direct response to that crisis, driven by the Anglican Catholic Church’s mission to uphold the dignity of life and provide equitable healthcare services to marginalized communities.
